The Red Silk Dress

From the mystical temples of Angkor Wat to the glittering expat communities of Malaysia and the elegance of Paris, The Red Silk Dress is a story of longing, courage and transformation.

Claudette, a French expat trapped in a loveless marriage, is captivated by Som, a charismatic Cambodian whose passion for his homeland awakens desires she thought were lost.

Torn between duty and a seductive awakening that promises freedom, but at a cost, Claudette must choose or risk losing the life calling her name.

An intimate journey through the beauty and ache of second chances, the risks we take for love, and the secrets we keep, even from ourselves. For everyone longing to reclaim identity, this story will linger long after the final page.

About Me

I’m Natalie Turner, a British author, columnist, cultural creative and speaker based in Lisbon.

My debut novel, The Red Silk Dress, was shaped by years spent between Southeast Asia and Europe, and by my fascination with women at thresholds: the moments when longing, identity, desire and truth begin to alter the direction of a life.

Alongside fiction, I write a monthly column for The Portugal News and am the author of the award-winning book Yes, You Can Innovate. Across my work, I return to the same thread: how our stories shape who we become, and how we might live with more courage, creativity and truth.

Through Red Silk, I explore story, place, identity and the art of living more deeply through writing, salons, letters and intimate cultural gatherings.

If you would like to stay close to the world unfolding around The Red Silk Dress, you are warmly invited to join The Red Silk Circle or connect with me on Instagram.
